Description: A low undershrub, much branched at the base, about 1 ft. high; branches terete, densely and finely pubescent; leaves opposite or subopposite, petiolate, deeply pinnatipartite, rather thick, finely pubescent, 1–1.5 in. long, 0.75 in. broad; segments linear, entire, obtuse or subacute, 1-nerved, 0.25– 0.333 in. long; raceme lax, few-flowered, finely pubescent, about 1 in. (very rarely up to 6 in.) long; flowers white: bracts linear, obtuse or acute, spreading or recurved, finely pubescent, about 2 lin. long; bracteoles subulate, finely pubescent, 0.5 lin. long; calyx-tube unequally and shortly 5-toothed, finely pubescent, 5 lin. long; corolla-tube erect, glabrous without, puberulous in the throat, 10 lin. long; filaments glabrous; fruit oblong, reticulately sculptured, 2–3 lin. long, 0.75–1 lin. broad; areole on the anterior face, oblong, surrounded by a toothed margin, 1–1.5 lin. long. Bushy perennial herb, up to c. 60 cm tall, growing from a woody taproot. Most parts puberulous with short stiff, glandular hairs. Stems branching near the base; branches erect or spreading, sometimes slightly 4-angled. Leaves opposite, subsessile or shortly petiolate, bright green, 1-5 cm long, deeply pinnately lobed with lobes mostly narrowly oblong to linear, up to 2 cm long. Inflorescences in terminal spikes, up to 6.5 cm long; bracts 4-5 mm long, linear lanceolate. Calyx 10-14 mm long, straight. Corolla short-lived, cream to yellowish-green; tube slender, 1.8-2.5 cm long, abruptly expanding into a flat, 5-lobed limb. (from Flora of Zimbabwe website)
