Ramuli novelli vix compla- nati adulti teretes validiusculi omnes leviter longitudinaliter sulcati gla-berrimi ad nodos incrassati internodiis breviusculis. Folia subsessilia mox decidua internodiis supremis aequilonga vel paullum longiora rigida crasse coriacea anguste ovato-lanceolata rarius obovato-lanceolata apice acuta basin versus subsensim angustata, nervis vix conspicuis. Inflorescentiae femineae singulae vel complures axillares plerumque triflorae; pedunculus brevis crassus bracteis 2 rigidis anguste ovatis apice acutis concavis basi breviter connatis instructus. Perigonii tepala crassiuscula subovata apice acuta basi connata; stilus brevis subcylindricus stigmate parvo paullum incrassato coronatus. Pseudobaccae juniores maturescentes oblongae vel ovoideo-oblongae obtusae stilo persistente coronatae. Baccae maturae ovoideae obtusae laeves vel in siccitate verruculosae.

(Engl. & K. Krause, 1914, Botanische Jahrbucher fur Systematik 51: pp 470-471)

The present, 4-2 dm long and at the lower end 3-4 mm thick branch pieces are dried by bright, yellow-green coloring; their internodes measure 4.2 to 2 cm. The small, dicklederigen (thick, leathery) leaves reach a length of 4.2-4.6 cm and a width of 2.5-3.5 mm; their coloration is in the dried state yellow-green to brown-green; nerves occur due to the thick texture as not produce so well. The standing individually or collectively in the leaf axils, almost always 3-flowered inflorescences have 3 -5 mm long stalks, while the bracts measuring 2.4 to 8.1 mm. The length of Blüttenhülle (leaf body) is 2.5-3 mm. The young, not yet fully mature fruits of a copy of are thoroughly brown color and dried 2-3 mm long and 1-1.5 mm wide, while the older fruits of the other copy has a length from 4-4.5 mm and a width of 2-3 mm and fresh are yellowish, dried brown in coloring. The short stylus measures less than 1 mm. (Engl. & K. Krause, 1914, Botanische Jahrbucher fur Systematik 51: pp 470-471 - translated by Google Translate)

Leafy, monoecious shrubs of small size, probably not higher than 0.2 m, stout, densely branched with short internodes, greyish green with small leaves, much resembling Boscia, one of its principal hosts. Stems rounded to slightly angled; basal internodes of younger branches 8-12 x 1-2 mm (rather consistent in size), older nodes slightly swollen. Leaves mostly oblong to oblanceolate, 6-8 x 3-4 mm, apex mostly obtuse, often minutely apiculate, tapering slightly into the sessile base. Dichasia with central flower typically staminate, lateral pistillate, usually 2 per axil. Berries ellipsoid, c. 3 mm long, smooth, forming a pedicel at maturity up to 1.5 mm long; style persistent. Flowering period unknown, possibly August-September. (from JSTOR Global Plants website / Flora of Southern Africa)

Glabrous, yellowish-green in a dried state; branches subterete, sulcate, rather stout; young branchlets slightly compressed; internodes 6–10 lin. long; leaves subsessile, soon deciduous, narrowly ovate-lanceolate or (more rarely) obovate-lanceolate, acute at the apex, rather gradually narrowed towards the base, 6–8 lin. long, 1.25–1.75 lin. broad, thickly coriaceous, nerves hardly raised; male inflorescence not known; female inflorescence: bracteal cups axillary, solitary or several together, peduncled, usually 3-flowered; bracts narrowly ovate, acute, 0.5– 0.75 lin. long; peduncle stout, 1.5–2.5 lin. long; petals subovate, acute, 1.25–1.5 lin. long, connate at the base; style subcylindric, hardly 0.5 lin. long; stigma slightly thickened; berries ovoid, 2–2.25 lin. long, 1–1.5 lin. in diam., yellowish, smooth, or slightly warted in a dried state.
